MEHDI AVAZ
is a Danish Director, known for directing the Netflix hit Toscana. In less than 5 years he has directed 4 feature films including his upcoming musical drama 'A Beautiful Life' starring pop-star Christopher. Mehdi Avaz has made it his trademark to combine the Nordic tradition for lifelike characters and stories, with the American approach to audience engagement, entertainment and high production value - even with smaller budgets.
His debut feature “While we live” was the first ever self financed film to hit Danish cinemas. The film became an instant blockbuster and was nominated for “Best Danish film” at the Danish Academy Award. Its success both at the box office and with the film critics made Mehdi an instant rising star and the same year he was awarded ‘Hope of the year’ at the acclaimed Danish festival Svend Filmfest. Only one year later his second feature “Collision” outperformed his debut in the cinemas and became a huge audience darling. Mehdi's 3rd feature film, the feel good love drama , “Toscana” with Anders Matthesen and Cristiana Dell'Anna (Gomorrah) premiered on Netflix in May 2022 and was instantly a global hit on the streaming service. The film remained on the streaming service Global top 10 for 4 consecutive weeks.
He is currently in post-production with his next film, A Beautiful Life, starring pop-star Christopher.
